Instituto Sergio Rodrigues started in October 2015 the series of lectures “Sergio Rodrigues, Six Decades of Design”. With unpublished images from the Institute's collection, which has been organized since 2014 with sponsorship from Itaú and carried out by the Ministry of Culture, the presentation given by designer Fernando Mendes outlines the life and work of the master of Brazilian design.
Photographs of Sergio Rodrigues' childhood and youth, key moments in his professional career, illustrations and unpublished sketches by the master, as well as a comprehensive collection of his furniture and architecture works, are part of the lecture.
Researcher of the Institute, Fernando Mendes was a close friend and one of Sergio Rodrigues' main collaborators in architecture and furniture projects for over 20 years.
Five presentations have already been made: at Estácio de Sá University, Praça XI campus, in October 2015; at PUC-Rio, in November 2015; at ESPM Rio, in April 2016, at Veiga de Almeida University, in October 2016 and at Design Petrópolis, in November 2016.
